Thanks to our Friends from 'Delta 65'
Your presence has been a blessing to us.

We've always believed that our church congregation is one big family that can depend on each other, help each other, and work together to help others. This has been proven during the wake of the terrorist attack on the United States of America. From Tuesday, Sept 11th, to Sunday, Sept 16th, 2001, our church family put 152 passengers of 'Delta 65' as front and center of our prayers, our thoughts, and our schedules. Each one of you are special to us and your safety and comfort is a priority.

Your smiles, fears, energy, and appreciation has and will continue to impact upon our lives long after you are home with your families.

We thank God for these blessings that come even from tragic events.

Remember us, keep us in your prayers, and stay in touch.

With much love and prayers,
The Salvation Army St. John's Temple Corps

1 Peter 4:9-11 Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms.

Hebrews 3:5-7 But Christ is faithful as a son over God's house. And we are his house, if we hold on to our courage and the hope of which we boast.

September 11

by Laura Williams

September 11 dawned bright and clear,
Just another day in the calendar year.
New York awoke in its usual way
To the sounds of traffic and children at play.

September sun warmed the cool fall air,
As a gentle wind swept branches bare,
Creating a carpet of autumn gold
And beauty enough for each heart to hold.

When Twin Towers fell with a terrible crash,
A working world was reduced to ash.
Dreams were shattered and lives erased
Like in times of war, what a terrible waste!

Smoke and flames filled the morning air.
Panic was eviddent everywhere.
Firemen rushed through burning doors.
People were trapped on all the floors.

The world stood still, not a plane in the sky
As everyone asked the question - why?
Freedom of travel was stripped away.
Terror reigned on that fateful day.

The mayor and president spoke in turn,
Each in disbelief watching buildings burn.
Americans listened with patriotic pride
As political parties stood side by side.

Hearts were touched by the awful sight
Of Manhattan's skyline ablaze at night.
Hands reached out to those in pain
Giving hope that New York would rise again.

The whole world watched as a nation wept
And over the city darkness crept.
Gone was the warmth of September sun
And the beauty with which the day had begun.

Fallen leaves lay limp on the ground
Like parts of the planes dramatically downed.
Clouding the colour of an autumn sky
Were the funnels of smoke that billowed by.

It is hoped that this darkness will give way soon
To the brillance and splendor of a harvest moon,
That from the ashes New York will rise,
A match for the beauty of September skies.

September 11, just another day?
That's not what the history books will say.
It will be remembered and recorded as fact,
- The day our world changed through a terrorist act!

"Yet there is one ray of hope. His compassion never ends."
Lamentations 3:21
